Chelsea returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion, thrashing Bournemouth 5-1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday to end their three-match Premier League winless run.

Jordan Henderson marked his home debut with two goals and an assist, while João Pedro also scored twice to help inspire the Blues to a convincing victory. Morgan Rogers added another goal as Xabi Alonso’s side produced a ruthless attacking display.

The result lifted Chelsea into fifth place with 10 points from six matches, while Bournemouth remained 17th and continued their difficult start under Marco Rose.

Henderson Makes Immediate Impact at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea made a blistering start, with Henderson opening the scoring inside two minutes.

The 36-year-old midfielder collected a pass after Cole Palmer drove forward and delivered a first-time effort from the edge of the penalty area. His shot went in off the post to give the hosts an early advantage on his home debut.

Chelsea doubled their lead moments later. Henderson turned provider, setting up Morgan Rogers, whose effort took a deflection off Antonio Silva before finding the net.

The two early goals gave Alonso’s side control of the contest and put Bournemouth under immediate pressure.

Chelsea continued to dictate much of the first half, with Moisés Caicedo returning to midfield, João Pedro leading the attack and Josh Acheampong featuring in defence.

Bournemouth threatened occasionally, including an opportunity for Rayan that was denied by Emiliano Martínez, but Chelsea reached half-time with a comfortable two-goal cushion.

João Pedro Extends Chelsea’s Advantage

Chelsea carried their attacking momentum into the second half and scored again within a minute of the restart.

Pedro Neto beat Silva near the byline before pulling the ball back for João Pedro, who finished emphatically to make it 3-0.

Bournemouth briefly threatened a comeback in the 51st minute. Following a corner, Caicedo attempted to clear the ball, but the resulting ricochet fell to Evanilson, who turned it home to reduce the deficit to 3-1.

The visitors’ hopes of building momentum were short-lived.

In the 67th minute, Pep Chavarría delivered an excellent low cross from the left, and João Pedro finished to register his second goal of the afternoon and restore Chelsea’s three-goal advantage.

The Brazilian’s brace underlined his importance to Chelsea’s attacking play, while the hosts continued to exploit openings in Bournemouth’s defence.

Henderson Completes His Brace With Stunning Free-Kick

Henderson saved another memorable moment for the 70th minute.

After Palmer won a free-kick, the England international initially stood over the ball before leaving the opportunity to Henderson. From approximately 25 to 30 yards, the midfielder curled a superb effort into the top corner to make it 5-1.

It completed a standout performance featuring two goals and an assist, making Henderson the clear star of the afternoon.

His contribution combined attacking quality with an energetic midfield display, providing Alonso with an encouraging sign of the experience and leadership available within his squad.

Chelsea made several substitutions as the match progressed, with Marco Palestra making his debut and Romeo Lavia, Danny Welbeck, Estêvão and Malo Gusto also featuring.

The Blues comfortably saw out the closing stages in front of an attendance of 39,767.

Chelsea’s Clinical Finishing Makes the Difference

Although Chelsea dominated the scoreline, the underlying statistics suggested a more balanced contest in several areas. Possession was split evenly, while the teams recorded similar expected-goal figures and shot totals.

Chelsea’s ability to convert their opportunities proved decisive.

Henderson delivered two goals and an assist, João Pedro finished twice, and Rogers continued his strong start to the campaign with his fourth league goal.

Palmer also played an important role, assisting Henderson’s opener and helping create the free-kick that led to the fifth goal, although his overall involvement was quieter than usual.

For Alonso, the performance offered a timely response after a difficult run of league results. Chelsea’s victory was their first in the Premier League since August 30.

Bournemouth Still Searching for Their First Win

The defeat deepened Bournemouth’s struggles under Rose, who remained without a league victory after six matches.

The Cherries have collected three draws and suffered three defeats, leaving them with three points in 17th place.

Despite creating opportunities and briefly reducing the deficit through Evanilson, Bournemouth were unable to contain Chelsea’s attacking players. Their defensive difficulties were particularly evident during the opening minutes and immediately after half-time.

Rose will need to find a way to turn competitive spells into results as Bournemouth attempt to move away from the lower end of the table.

What Comes Next for Chelsea and Bournemouth?

Chelsea will travel to face Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium next weekend, with kick-off scheduled for 12:30.

The Blues will hope to build on their Stamford Bridge performance and maintain their climb up the Premier League standings.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, must regroup and look for a response as they attempt to secure their first league win of the campaign.

For Chelsea, the 5-1 victory provided a welcome boost, with Henderson’s outstanding home debut and João Pedro’s clinical finishing offering plenty of encouragement for Alonso as the season continues.
