UEFA has officially banned Galatasaray supporters from attending their side’s upcoming away fixture at Anfield in the UEFA Champions League. The decision follows disciplinary issues recorded during the Turkish club’s 3-2 defeat to Juventus F.C..

According to UEFA, the sanctions stem from incidents involving the throwing of objects, the lighting of fireworks, and crowd disturbances during the match in Turin. As a result, Galatasaray will not be allowed to sell away tickets for their trip to face Liverpool at Anfield.

In addition to the away fan ban, UEFA has imposed a fine of $46,506 on the Turkish giants. The governing body emphasized that maintaining safety and order at European fixtures remains a top priority, particularly in high-profile competitions like the Champions League.

Galatasaray have since responded with an official statement confirming that they intend to appeal the ruling. The club believes the punishment is excessive and is hopeful of a review that could potentially reduce or overturn the sanctions.

The decision adds extra tension ahead of what was already expected to be a high-stakes encounter at Anfield. With no away supporters permitted, the atmosphere could heavily favor Liverpool, as the home crowd is known for creating one of the most intimidating environments in European football.

As the appeal process unfolds, all eyes will now be on UEFA’s disciplinary committee to see whether the sanctions stand or are revised.
