Belgium produced a dominant second-half performance to defeat the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT), 5-2, in an international friendly at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday.

The result ends the USMNT’s five-match unbeaten run as they continue preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Americans will look to respond when they face Portugal on Tuesday in Atlanta.

The United States made a bright start and took the lead in the 39th minute. Weston McKennie found the net, tapping in from close range after connecting with a well-delivered corner from Antonee Robinson.

Belgium responded just before halftime. Zeno Debast reacted quickest to a rebound following a save from goalkeeper Matt Turner, striking low from distance to level the match at 1-1.

The visitors took full control after the break, driven by the attacking influence of Jérémy Doku. Amadou Onana gave Belgium the lead in the 53rd minute, finishing off a well-worked move to make it 2-1.

Belgium extended their advantage in the 59th minute when Charles De Ketelaere converted from the penalty spot after a handball decision against Tim Ream following video review.

Dodi Lukébakio added a stunning left-footed goal in the 68th minute before completing his brace in the 82nd minute to cap off Belgium’s commanding second-half display.

The USMNT found a late consolation in the 87th minute through Patrick Agyemang, but it did little to change the outcome.
